Music Ministry at St. Paul's
The Bible tells us that every good gift comes from God (James 1:17). Music is one of God’s good gifts!
All are welcome to be a part of our musical family! We welcome instrumentalists and vocalists to make joyful, exceptional music to thank and praise God.
The Congregational Choir rehearsals are on Thursdays from 7:00-8:00 PM (August/September to June). This choir is open to all ages: high school, college, and adult. In addition to traditional music, we are adventurous and with Pastor Jon Gathje as our Choir Director, we try ancient as well as current music, chants, and choral repertoire in diverse styles. We strive to prepare music from a variety of historical periods and traditions, sung in English, Latin, and other languages. During the regular program year, the choir sings once a month. We also participate in the celebrations of Christmas Eve, Holy Week, and Easter Sunday. Keith Shackelton is our Director of Music and accompanist.
Handbells are beautiful to the ear and captivating to the eye. They also add a spiritual, musical dimension to our worship experience. Rehearsals are on Thursday from 6:00-7:00 PM. Adults and youth are invited to be part of the Handbell Choir. To get started, the ability to read music is a plus, but not necessary as instruction is always available during rehearsals. Director of Music, Keith Shackelton, is the director of the Handbell Choir.
Instrumentalists, musicians and singers are always welcome to share their talents with us during the year through special music and musical offerings.
You are invited to share your love of music, your talents and your gifts by being a part of our music ministry. “Those who sing, pray twice.” - St. Augustine.
